The Thrift Shop is Hiring!
Read below for current open positions as of July 2024.
Assistant Manager
Assistant Manager duties shall include:

Abide by the Thrift Shop Policies and Procedures.

Be available during sale days/hours in the event of the primary
manager's absence. All efforts will be made to make these arrangements in advance for planning purposes. In the event of an emergency, will be the first contact to make arrangements as backup manager.

Interact with customers and provide or arrange for customer service as needed.

Hand out and brief volunteer assignments and ensure volunteer procedures are followed. Answer questions as needed.
Sales Days:
-
Thrift Shop is generally open for sales Wednesdays and Fridays from 0930-1330 and the first Saturday of the Month, October through May.

Thrift Shop is closed on all federal holidays, Eglin Air Force Base “down” days, and from 1 July through the free tax weekend in August.

Thrift Shop follows the Okaloosa County School District calendar and is closed the week of Thanksgiving, two weeks in December, Good Friday and spring break holidays.

Ensure that the Thrift Shop is kept clean.

Complete the cash count and daily accountability sheet. Keep current the key issue and inventory log.

Assist the Thrift Shop Manager with organization and redesign of the sales floor. Assist with sorting of donations and pricing of items to go onto the floor. Keep the storage areas clean, sorted and stored for the future.
Manager
Manager duties shall include:
-
Manage all aspects of the Thrift Shop.

The Thrift Shop Manager shall read and abide by the Thrift Shop Policies and Procedures.

The ESC expects that the Thrift Shop Manager or a designee shall be available during sale hours to manage the Thrift Shop and to answer any questions or address any concerns. If the Thrift Shop Manager is not available during sale hours, the Thrift Shop Manager shall contact Backup Manager or may appoint a volunteer to assume responsibility during regular store hours when the Thrift Shop Manager is not present. If a volunteer is unavailable or unwilling to serve, the Thrift Shop Manager may sub-contract, at the Thrift Shop Manager’s expense, to an individual pre approved by the ESC President and Thrift Shop Liaison. An ESC Governing Board Member shall not be compensated for work performed at the Thrift Shop.
Sale Days:

Thrift Shop Manager shall turn in a timecard monthly to Thrift Shop Liaison, indicating which days were worked and for how many hours.

Communication of any issues through Thrift Shop Liaison, 2nd Vice President or ESC President.

Meet with the Thrift Shop Liaison a minimum of one day a week.

Building Maintenance: Contact the Building Manager for any Building Maintenance Issues.

Keep the Thrift Shop current on all building codes and safety requirements. Notify the Thrift Shop Liaison if unable to be present during inspections.

Ensure that the Thrift Shop is kept clean.

Hand out and brief Volunteers concerning the Volunteer Procedures, applicable Thrift Shop Procedures and Emergency Procedures.

Manage Thrift Shop Website and Facebook page.
Finances:
-
The Thrift Shop Manager has authority to purchase items for the Thrift Shop up to $250. Any daily expense(s) over $250 must be approved in accordance with the 28 Thrift Shop Policies and Procedures.

Complete the Cash Count and Daily Accountability Sheet. Keep current the key issue and inventory log.
Cashier
Cashier duties shall include:

The Thrift Shop Cashier is responsible for all Thrift Shop Operations, during business hours, that have a lock or locking device. This includes:
-
Front Door: Unlocking and locking said door before and after business has concluded.

"Open" Flag: Put out the open flag and take down at the start and conclusion of business.
-
Gate: Unlocking and locking gate before and after business has concluded.
-
Sheds: Opening and closing donation sheds. Lock if applicable.

The Thrift Shop Cashier is Responsible for the Thrift Shop Cash Register and all monies from the sales of Thrift Shop items.

Interact with Customers and provide or arrange for customer service as needed.

The Thrift Shop Cashier shall use a system of records to ensure accurate accounting and to prevent loss of all monies. The Thrift Shop Advisory Committee strongly recommends the following procedures:

Take Cash from Safe at the Start of each business day.
-
Count the cash at the start and end of each business day.
-
Complete the Daily Cash Accountability Sheet.
-
Turn the cash into the Thrift Shop Manager or designee.
